Special Thanks

Just thought I'd say thank you to my tutor Melody Williams for her great advice on this assignment, Josh Harle for helping me out with some grasshopper trouble and especially Jeremy Harkins for pretty much offering the time to help solve most of the problems and trouble I had during this assignment. Much appreciated for all the help!

Physical Model

It took me only about an hour to put together my model, however Melody and Jeremy pointed out that I had put my pieces together back to front which is not what I intended but in the end gave a more interesting effect as though the walls are being inverted from one another. I totally did not realize this while I was putting it together because I was extremely tired at the time and was simply following the numbers I wrote on each piece.

I had only realized this halfway through my presentation which was embarrassing but just goes to show that you should not construct models when you are lacking sleep and to be very wary of how you order your laser cut pieces.

Laser Cut Pieces

Reconfigured Definition

Okay so after some major reconfiguration and help from Jeremy, I've realized my original model definition was never going to work for laser cutting because of a major flaw in my design involving my wall slices being made up of individually stacked cubes instead of long vertical rectangles. There were 288 components in total which was a ridiculous number of things to get laser cut.

The curved designs for my structure have also changed as Jeremy pointed out that a single curved pattern going in one direction was way too boring and I agree so the necessary changes were made as I realized the design was actually possible to be modeled and put together once laser cut.
